Current Board Members
Quang Tran has volunteered with VietHope since 2007. She co-led creation of the Youth Development Summit in 2009, and was VietHope's President 2010-2012. Quang last visited Vietnam in 2012, when she had a great time participating with 30 Vietnamese college students in the YDP Summit in Saigon. Quang works in product management. She holds a B.A. from Harvard, and a joint MBA and Masters in Education from Stanford.
Quang Tran
Quang Duong started as a University Scholarship Program (USP) lead in Fall 2007, overseeing USP’s application review operations and volunteer recruitment. He was Vice President of VietHope 2013-2016, and then President 2016-2018. Quang Duong holds a B.A. from Harvard, an M.S. and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is currently a software engineer at Google in Mountain View, California. Quang has been leading product development at Google Maps and currently at the new division of Google Health.

Sam Nguyen has been a long-term generous donor and supporter of VietHope, and now a member of our Board. He is currently a patent attorney, partner at HDC IP Law LLP, as well as a founder and executive member of several pharmaceutical startups. His IP work deals primarily with prosecuting pharmaceutical based patents and developing novel pharmaceutical products for the treatment of various diseases.
Sam Nguyen
Tue H. Nguyen, PhD is a retired Biotech / Pharmaceutical Development professional. He and his wife Quyen are quite well-known to Viethoper’s in the Bay Area. They have hosted the Appreciation Dinner and other VietHope’s gatherings at their home in Redwood City, and are personal friends of many Viethopers. Tue H Nguyen received his BS in Pharmacy from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Saigon, VN in 1973, and earned his MS and PhD degrees in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Kansas, USA. He worked for over twenty years at Genentech as R&D scientist, and in various scientific managerial positions. He left Genentech to join a non-profit pharmaceutical organization leading its R&D effort to develop treatments for neglected diseases in developing countries until his retirement.
Tue Nguyen
Uyen-Khanh Quang-Dang, M.D., M.S., co-founded VietHope in 2002, the same year when she received her B.A. from Harvard College, graduating cum laude with honors. She received her M.D. from New York Medical College, and completed both her general psychiatry residency training and geriatric psychiatry fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Quang-Dang currently works as a geriatric psychiatrist at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation in Palo Alto, CA. Dr. Quang-Dang has served as a Board member of VietHope since 2013 and as a Board member of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Foundation since 2015.
Uyen-Khanh Quang-Dang
Phong joined VietHope as the Executive Director for the period from 2019 to 2022. He has more than 15 years working for INGOs including ActionAid Vietnam, and Room to Read. He is also a guest lecturer at RMIT Vietnam, and a member of RMIT’s Industry Advisory Board.
Phong holds the master’s degree in natural resource management from Twente University in the Netherlands. Currently, Phong is the Country Manager for the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation in Vietnam.

Anh graduated summa cum laude from Bowdoin College with B.A. degree in chemistry and mathematics, and a minor in Economics. Post graduation, Anh spent two years working at Piper Jaffray in the firm’s healthcare investment banking group in New York. Subsequent to Piper Jaffray, Anh joined Tailwind Capital Partners, a middle-market private equity firm based in New York. Anh currently works at P2 Capital Partners, a New York-based hedge fund, as part of the firm’s investment team. Anh joined VietHope in early 2014.

Mai has been working at Horizon Therapeutics as a senior biostatistician since 2021 after working in the medical device company for 1.5 years and cancer research for 2.5 years. She is currently a president of VietHope who will oversee all the volunteering activities in the US. Mai received her B.S degree in math and statistics from University of Minnesota, and M.S degree in statistics from North Carolina State University. Mai is based in San Francisco/ California.

Tung is currently working as a Software Engineer in Los Angeles, California. Previously, he had experience working in New York City and Silicon Valley, also as a software engineer.
Tung has been volunteering for VietHope since 2018 and has been involved in the new website project, which launched in October 2019.
Currently, Tung is overseeing VietHope technical projects, and making new improvements to the website.
Tung graduated with Honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in Electrical Engineering in 2012

I’m currently a pharmacist at Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie Company working on clinical research. I received both of my Doctor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Science at the University of Minnesota through scholarship programs. Without the financial help, I would not have made it to where I am today. Hence, I understand the value of scholarships and would like to help other Vietnamese students who need it to achieve their goals.

Vy graduated from University of California-San Diego and is currently a software engineer at Trulioo. She started volunteering at VietHope in 2020 as a technical support volunteer, and now she is currently the Fundraising Chair at VietHope. Her vision is to strengthen the organization's relationships with donors and to increase funds so that many more students can get the support they need.

I was a VietHope scholarship recipient and YDP participant in 2011. I recieved my PhD in Chemistry at University of Texas at San Antonio and moved to Deleware working as a medicinal chemist. I started volunteering for VietHope US in the end of 2022 as a supporter for fundraising activities and events in US.

Joining VietHope in 2022, Skylar is one of the newest members of our team. Skylar is currently an environmental scientist at Caltrans. Before that, she was a professional grant writer. Skylar is passionate about contributing to the community, as apparent through her long-term volunteer work with organizations such as Tagua Fair Trade, Boys and Girls Club, Au Co Vietnamese Center, and Vietnam Children’s Fund. As a member of our fundraising team, she hopes to raise awareness about VietHope’s activities and impact, and secure more resources to advance our programs and mission. Skylar said she was inspired by the hard work, creativity, and dedication of all VietHopers and felt honored to officially be a part of the team

Tien joined VietHope from Apr, 2023 as a volunteer for multiple projects for VietHope. Tien came to the U.S in 2018 and started school in San Francisco and now a sophomore at UC Berkeley majoring Computer Science. Tien is looking forward to dedicating his energy in VietHope in the technical field and/or anything needed. Before VietHope, Tien was Project Leader for various volunteer programs and NGO during high school.

Ha Huynh has volunteered with VietHope since 2006 with many roles as the student recruiter (USP), the project management trainer (YDP), the speaker (YWP), the fundraiser, and the coach of the Vietnam Executive Committee team and now Ha is VietHope Executive Dirctor from 2023. Ha received the Endeavour Executive Award of the Australian government and participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program of the U.S. Department of State. Ha holds an MSc in Management from the University of Bath (UK) and was the Director of Personnel Department at Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Ho Chi Minh City Branch.

Dong Le is responsible for leading the Core Team in operating VietHope's programs in Vietnam. Before that, he was the Acting Representative of VietHope in Vietnam (9/2017-2/2019). He is also known for his role in founding the Youth Workshop Program in 2015 and Alumni Development Program in 2016. In addition, Dong came to know VietHope through receiving the USP scholarship when he was a freshman (2008) and was one of the 30 first students selected to participate in the YDP Summit 2009. Then, he became a volunteer for VietHope's activities since then because he wanted to help other Vietnamese students like he was helped.
Before joining VietHope's Executive Committee, Dong was the Head of the Software Quality Assurance department at Viettel. He holds a B.S. in Electronics & Telecommunications from the Vietnam National University - HCMC.

Thanh began volunteering for VietHope in 2008 with USP’s application review process, then jumped to the very first Youth Development Summit in 2009 and continued volunteering as an organizing team member and leader in the next Summits. She also has experience working with other student-based and not-for-profit organizations. Thanh graduated from Foreign Trade University in Saigon in 2011 majoring Finance and Banking and has 10+ year experience in marketing both in B2C and B2B industries.

Hue has always been an active volunteer of VietHope in Hue city since 2004. Hue helps VietHope to operate all programs in Hue city including USP, MDP, YDP and ADP. She is now working for Truong An primary school.
