MDP 2025 – 2026: A Year Of Inspiring Impact And Numbers That Matter

As the 2025-2026 academic year draws to a close, VietHope’s Merit Development Program (MDP) proudly celebrates a journey marked by dedication, growth, and transformative achievements.

Throughout the past year, MDP has remained steadfast in empowering high school students facing socioeconomic challenges in Hue and Can Gio. Beyond providing financial scholarships, the program delivers comprehensive soft skills training and career guidance to equip scholars for the future. 2 locations – 4 high Schools: MDP is implemented in Hue and Can Gio, providing learning and personal development opportunities for students at four high schools:

• Phan Dang Luu High School
• Nguyen Chi Thanh High School
• Quoc Hoc – Hue High School for the Gifted
• Can Thanh High School

160 scholarships: Including 100 scholarships in Hue and 60 in Can Gio, helping ease students’ financial burdens and giving them the opportunity to continue their education.

130 USD annual support per student: Each scholarship helps cover essential educational expenses, including tuition fees, books, uniforms, and other necessities, easing financial pressures and motivating students to pursue their dreams.

2 capacity building programs: Beyond financial assistance, MDP provides students with opportunities to participate in skills development and career orientation programs, including:

• STEM Day Festival in Hue on August 5 – 6, 2025
• “Mam Sang Can Gio” Workshop in Can Gio on July 25, 2025

Through these activities, students have more opportunities to explore their interests, identify their strengths, build confidence, and gradually shape their future paths.

100% of students’ families visited: Through in-person home visits, VietHope gains a deeper understanding of each student’s circumstances, providing valuable insights to inform scholarship assessments and selection.

36 students admitted to university and 11 students awarded VSDP scholarships: For Grade 12 students, MDP also opens up opportunities for continued support as they transition to university. In the past academic year, 36 MDP students were admitted to public universities across Vietnam, including 11 who were awarded VietHope Student Development Program (VSDP) scholarships to receive continued support in their next chapter.

44 dedicated volunteers: VietHope’s volunteers have contributed to various MDP activities, from home visits and field assessments to scholarship awards and the organization of capacity building activities for students.

The achievements of the 2025 – 2026 academic year are reflected not only in numbers, but also in each student’s efforts and personal growth. VietHope believes that MDP’s continued support will empower students to develop their potential, pursue their dreams, and confidently shape their futures.
